Pain and Healing process after facial contouring surgery

Pain and Healing process after facial contouring surgery

It seems like people keep on having an interest in facial contouring surgery which helps to reduce protruded facial bone and smoothing angular face. We have been receiving so many inquiries and found out they all are interested to get the surgery to have a slimmer and smaller face, however, they are concerned about the surgery because the word itself of ‘surgery’ sounds kind of scary for anyone.

Pain and safety was the biggest reason why most people are hesitating to go for surgery.

TS Plastic Surgery, well known for facial contouring surgery in Korea, would love to answer the most common concerns and questions for all of you who have not decided for the surgery.

How painful is it after the surgery?

‘Bone cutting pain’, it is a description of pain in Korea and we use it when we express very severe pain. However, it is scientifically inconsistent with the truth. Because most of the bone does not contain a sense organ. The inner side(bone) from the skin, the less pain we feel since the number of sensory cells decreases. It means you won’t feel worse pain from facial contouring surgery compared to other types of surgeries. Of course, there will be pain that can be controlled by painkillers like other normal pain.

One of the reasons why the patients are having a hard time post-operation is because of swelling. TS uses special equipment to desquamate the exact area to decrease the risk of damage to the tissue around and minimize bleeding. For that reason, there will be less swelling and a quick recovery.

However, we recommend you to stay at home having enough rest to recover on the day of the operation.

Recovery time after facial contouring surgery

You may feel physically tired along with swelling until the 2nd day of the operation, however, it is possible for you to return to your normal life by such as eating, speaking, moving, and so on. Normally, it is possible to go to work or school after a week and you will be mostly recovered after 3 weeks (swelling as if a wisdom tooth to be pulled out).

There is a possibility of having nonunion from the unnecessary movement of masseter muscle when you eat or talk if it wasn’t fixed firmly. You do not have to worry since TS uses both wire and a plate to tighten the facial bone more firmly to prevent vicious union or nonunion. Once you start to eat, swelling will also get better as time goes by. It will help you to open the mouth wider which makes you possible to have a normal meal except hard or chewy foods after a week of the operation.

Nerve Location

How to proceed with safe facial contouring surgery?

Facial contouring surgery is a surgery that requires a highly experienced surgeon with meticulous and delicate skills to perform such surgery in order to avoid any nerve damage.

The surgeon must make a detailed plan pre-operation to avoid any aftereffect such as facial paralysis which the patient may definitely face if the surgeon cuts too much of bones not considering the nerve. If you are considering facial contouring surgery, you should find the specialist who has extensive experience to have a detailed consultation before you decide to go for a surgery.
