TS Dual Canthoplasty, who do you think it is for?

TS Dual Canthoplasty, who do you think it is for?

“My dissatisfaction with my slanted eyes looking very fierce and mean troubles me”

“The outer corner of my eye is closed and the shape doesn’t look clear”

It is normal to see the people who mention these kinds of concerns when you come to eye plastic surgery for enlarging the eye. It is one of the most popular eyes plastic surgery since it improves eye shape by enlarging vertically to be bigger. It can be performed either by own or with other surgeries such as double eyelid surgery, ptosis correction. Today, I would like to talk about the difference between lateral canthoplasty and lower canthoplasty.

Q. Aren’t they the same operation?

First of all, they are performed in different area to improve the shape of the eye. Lateral canthoplasty is a surgery that enlarges the eye horizontally that performed at the outer corner of the eye. On the other hand, lower canthoplasty reshapes the eye by lowering the lower eyelid 45° angle.

(TS Dual Canthoplasty – It enlarges both outer and lower eyes to make bigger and defined eye shape)

It is not that you must have both surgeries together but they are recommended together to achieve better results of bigger and clearer eye shape. TS Dual Canthoplasty is also a combination of both lateral canthoplasty and lower canthoplasty. After enlarging the size of the eye, the lower eyelid is fixed tight to the periosteum of the lateral orbital rim. Two different surgeries create a great synergy effect when they are performed together.

Q. Who is dual canthoplasty for?

1. Who has an aggressive look with the slanted eyes

Dual canthoplasty not only reshapes the eyes for a smoother impression but also widen the eyes.

2. Closed small eyes

Real Before & After of TS’ patient

The above patient has small eyes and closed eye corners which is well known as ‘Cockle-like eyes’. This type is perfect for lateral canthoplasty and lower canthoplasty.

The corner of the eye seems closed and makes the eye even smaller if it slants upwards. Therefore, simply opening the corner downward with the dual canthoplasty result in bigger and cooler eyes.

Why is an extensively experienced surgeon with high technique is important for Canthoplasty?

Canthoplasty became one of the most popular and performed plastic surgery nowadays. However, there are a few important factors that have to be considered for canthoplasty such as the length of the eye and glabella, the width of the eye, and so on. In addition, even 0.1mm of difference might end up with a totally different result so that a very detailed technique of the surgeon is required. Therefore, it is essential to choose the clinic with the surgeon who has rich experience as well as high quality of technique. We all have to be aware of planning the right surgical method after having a detailed consultation with the doctor leads to not only the successful result but also helps to prevent any repetitive surgery in the future.
